It was published in London by Virtue and Company, probably in the early 1870s; there is no copyright date. This book is beautifully illustrated with full-page engravings. It is in very good condition, with some foxing; there is a tear at the bottom of the spine. Rev. Barnes was a liberal American Presbyterian clergyman who became pastor of the First Church in Philadelphia, mother church of the Presbyterian denomination in America, in 1830.
