A vintage MSA Skullgard hard hat, a design that has been in production since the 1930s. Helmets like this, made from a phenolic resin woven in fabric (often referred to as Bakelite or fiberglass depending on the specific year), were indeed common in the 1940s. I believe this hate may be from late 30s early 40s as it doesn’t have a date stamp under the rim Or anywhere on the inside of it as most new models do.
