In the mid-1960's there were no proof sets, so the mint created a special mint set in lieu of the proof set. The set has five coins from 1966 with the Kennedy half dollar made of 40% silver. As you can see in the pictures, there is a bit of toning on the edge of the 40% silver half, this is normal for older silver or part silver coins. I have five of these sets, some have no toning at all. The set includes the dark blue box seen in the pictures. This makes a great gift for someone born in 1966 or has a special day in 1966. In addition, since the Kennedy half dollar is 40% silver, it's a great way to make a small investment in the value of silver.
