Check the listing for details. 19th Century Antique Brass Button Cleaning Board "Service Uniform Protector". Color: brass. Listed at 40.00 USD. Original 19th Century button stick "Service Uniform Protector" used when polishing the brass buttons of their uniform to protect the uniform from damage. This example has two identical halves attached by a hinge. When the two halves of the stick are closed around the buttons of a jacket, they form a barrier between the buttons and the cloth. The buttons can then be polished without soiling or damaging the cloth. This was a standard piece of a Soldier’s kit when they were in garrison. The reproduction paper envelop is a replica of an original found in a Grand Army of the Republic Museum in Pennsylvania. It's a perfect match for living history, reenactments between the Civil War and WW1.
