The signal generated by the frequency generator is used to stimulate the external complex impedance. The response signal of the external impedance is sampled by the on-chip ADC, and then processed by the on-chip DSP using discrete Fourier transform (DFT). The DFT algorithm returns a real part (R) data word and an imaginary part (I) data word at each frequency.
