Assembled & TestedReady to Install A brand new replacement preamp for your old Altec 9475A. A new printed circuit board (PCB) with all new electronic components. Identical to what is in your 9475A now, just not sixty years old and out of tolerance. These are all new transistors, resistors, capacitors and diodes. All transistors are matched pairs equivalent to Altec specs and 1% tolerance resistors and mica caps as specified by Altec. The last two pic's are what most original preamps look like today. Yours may still be working but it might not be sounding as good as it should because of age. The circuit boards get a little toasty from transistor heat. The last pic is the common failure of R15. After years of heat and use, they fail. Each of these PCB's listed have been installed into a 9475A preamp and tested. I have operated them for about six hours with no issues. You may see some solder residue across the numbered pin holes at the bottom of the board because to install and remove the board from the 9475A I soldered and de-soldered the transformer and power wires as seen in pic #6. HOW TO INSTALL: If you can solder, you can install this board. Take a look at the bottom of the existing board in your 9574A preamp. You will see there are 17 pads (holes) for wire connections. Sixteen of the pads have wires soldered into them. Make yourself a drawing labeling each pad with the color of the wire soldered to it and take a few pic's for reference. De-solder the wires, remove the two screws holding the old PCB in place, install the replacement PCB and re-solder the wires into the correct numbered/labeled pads (holes). TO BE CLEAR: You are buying a replacement printed circuit board populated with transistors, capacitors, diodes, resistors and heatsinks and has been tested for operation. You are responsible for the installation of the printed circuit board (connected to the input and output transformers) into an original Altec 9475A frame. You are not buying a complete 9475A preamplifier with transformers, just the preamplifier. After the replacement printed circuit board has been correctly installed into a 9475A frame with input and output transformers, this replacement printed circuit board will perform like an new original Altec 9475A preamp.
