This listing is for a lovely late 19th Century Sterling Silver pedestal double salt cellar server with shell bowls. The shells are a nice size and are decorated with a fluted shape. The salts are mounted on a server stand with center handle and stepped base. There is an unidentified European hallmark on the upper edge of the base. We believe this piece is Sterling Silver although without identifying the mark specifically, this is Measures 7 1/2" high (at handle), approximately 3 1/2" high (at bowls), 8 1/8" long and 1 7/8" in diameter at base. Weighs 164 grams (weighted). This nice double salt is in very good Estate condition although there are a couple of issues to report. There is some roughness on the front and back of the lower concave area of the stepped base. We are unable to determine the cause of this damage. It is faint and almost appears as if a mark was removed although both spots are faint. Also, the base is filled with plaster for stability and there is no silver cover over that area. It would appear that there would originally have been a flat silver base to cover the fill. Please view all photos as part of description.
