Its shell is made of (very light) acacia wood and its head, of (very tight) goat- or plastic skin. It is generally equipped with a snare (made of gut) stretched across its head, which gives the instrument a distinctive buzzing sound when the hand hits the skin.This model is a genuine traditional bendir made in Fez, by experienced craftsmen.
