Found... after years in an audio recording estate, a piece from the heydey of technical precision acoustical laboratory gear.. a well cared for B&K Type 4422 Reverb Meter -- This is the complete processor / meter, appears to only be missing the AC power cord. This meter works with the famous B&K 2305, 2307, 2706 or 1615 mic preamps and mics, to measure to aid in and possibly process and manipulate audio reverb effects or acoustics.Presents nicely in person, fair condition with many minor scuffs, light scratches, scratches on knobs, and some minor cleaning needed (including behind glass). Meter movement is free with nice bounce. The processor was not powered on -- as it is missing the special grounded AC cord. Intl voltage power supply is built-in. No cord, so this unit is Sold as Untested, for Parts or Restoration. A seldom seen B&K piece -- will appeal to both collectors of Europe’s most respected audio measurement maker. In addition to being an outstanding piece of audio recording history -- it’s also of interest for studio buffs looking to use an analog effects tool -- possibly the coolest accessory to those who own snazzy Plate Reverbs. By the 1960s, B&K audio lab equipment had achieved the laboratory gold standard. Whenever audio tests were about to get real, our white coated mentors would break Every feared & respected institution used this stuff, it was the best... whether they cut records, built speakers (Altec & JBL always proudly photo’d their B&K “stacks”) launched rockets, made movies, tested weapons, conducted aquatic espionage, faked moon landings or dissected aliens .. B&K audio test and recording equipment was probably involved when extreme audio measurements were needed.… Most every government, research body and any other scientific or R&D endeavor that had the funding to afford this fabulous equipment relied on it’s accuracy. The other domestic comparable (and also fabulous) grade of audio recording and measurement equipment was made by General Radio (and a little by HP who was a newcomer to microphones, and also resold B&K elements), and less popular for acoustic / sound tests . B&K mics , preamps and meters were designed to achieve the standards set of the Western Electric / Bell Labs (who preceded with the 640AA condenser)... B& K products had better field portability with more plug-ins and connectible instruments available. By the 1960s, their equipment crept in to Audio recording studios for real music-- though, not often because it was so costly -- When it was used to record audio in studio settings, it’s just a top end as it looks, and very rugged as well, with a nice vintage discrete analog quality. . You don’t see obscure audio / effects meters these listed in the USA much. This one was spotted in 1960s era stash…. This scarce find will sell quickly; buy now to avoid a bidders war. Should be purchased buy experienced restoration and DiYcollectors and hobbyists. Looks are clean and complete, as always keep in mind it is a nearly 60 year old bit of kit.
