Caucasian Niello Belt Dagger Form Clasp Russian 84 Standard Silver 1895 Antique Russian 84 standard silver ornate Caucasian style belt, richly decorated with the scroll niello patterns. It has a large buckle with a dagger-shaped clasp, attached with a safety chain. There is a niello inscription "Кавказъ" (Caucasus) on the front of the buckle. The belt has a kokoshnik mark with an assayer's initials "ЛО" (LO) - Lev Fridrikhovich Oleks, Moscow. The maker's mark is "ЛК" (LK; undefined). c. 1895-1907. This magnificent belt is 38 3/4" long and 1 1/2" wide; the buckle is 3 3/8" long and 2 3/4" wide. It weighs 210 grams or 6.8 Ozs. Troy. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
