Approximately 2 5/8" x 1" high. This uniform patch was used by the private company that existed before the Metro was established. According to Wikipedia, In January 1955 the Capital Transit Company, then consisting of 750 buses and 450 streetcars, sought permission for faire increase, but was denied. That spring employees asked for a raise and it was denied and on July 1, 1955 there was a strike that lasted for seven weeks. The company franchise was sold some months later to O. Roy Chalk and the name was changed to DC Transit. Part of the sale required that the trolleys be replaced with buses. In 1962 all streetcar lines were abandoned. This style uniform patch was used between 1955 and 1970. Shipped via USPS with tracking information.
