As the names imply, engineers are used to gather Anima, the "lifeblood" of the alien culture and perform building tasks, while warriors mainly carry out combat missions. The "twist" occurs when the indigenous hives have to interrupt their millennia of tribal survival warfare, a normal state of existence, to fight against the invading humans who want Anima as a means to perpetuate immortality. Featuring 360-degree freedom of movement, strategic and tactical warfare with variable formations, collectible power-up shards, adjustable camera angles, creative creatures, and clever animation, Dominant Species is a lost gem in a minefield of clones. For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program. Macintosh Systems: For Macintosh programs, most older games will need to be run in Classic Environment if you have a MAC OS X 10.0 - 10.4 version. MAC OS X 10.5 or Higher OR Intel Macs), you will have to try running it using the free program called SheepShaver, but compatibility is not ensured.
