Dragon-themed lighting has a special place in my heart and apparently there are others like me, as these tend to “fly” out the door. For years, a certain Hollywood star purchased every dragon-themed lamp or sconce or chandelier that I found. I delivered them to his San Francisco playpen and … well, that’s enough for now. So, when you buy this you’ll be in the company of … well, that’s enough for now. This sconce really takes the cake. How often have you seen a combination of iron and brass, for starters!? The iron work is of consummate quality, and in perfect condition (not much you can do to iron short of running over it with a steamroller). The icing on the cake is the original socket and switch, both in perfect functioning condition. The wiring is original as well, and as long as you handle it with care, it won’t give you any problems. I’ve wrapped the wires with electrical tape where they come out of the back. It wouldn’t be difficult to completely rewire this sconce, but I’m of the opinion that “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I’ll leave the ultimate decision up to you as to whether it needs rewiring; in my opinion it does not. I love the wing-theme on the back plate, an artistic tour de force. Measurements: about 12 inches top-to-bottom, 3 ¼ wide, and projecting about seven inches from the wall.
