These come in 3 sizes. 4mm which fits most drum lugs. 5mm which fits most mounting brackets, bass drum spurs and other drum hardware. The 10-24 size is for Trick drums snare throw-off and butt plate. If you are not using Trick hardware, then you will not need this drill guide . There is a break in the price if you purchase the 4 & 5 mm set together. There is a better break in price if you purchase all 3 drill guide sets. Here is how they work… Inside of this tool, there are 7 threaded inserts. The inserts have a point on one end. Use the tool to screw in the insert into each hole on your drum hardware. Use blue painters’ tape to cover the area where you want your hardware and mark the position of the first hole. You can then use your hardware with the pointed inserts in each mounting hole to mark the drilling position on the tape. Once you have marked the tape, use a pointed object to mark the shell/tape a bit deeper. Use a brad point drill bit to drill where these marks are located.
