Edmonson's book features a similar saw made of ivory, which is attributed to 'Tiemanns' with an 1830 date. One of the first amputation sets ever made by George Tiemann. Before the 1850s, screw slots were handmade and usually uneven and off-center, as can be seen on this saw.
