Check the listing for details. EXTINCTIONS- VERY COOL DEVONIAN PYRITIZED ARTHROACANTHA CRINOID FOSSIL - DETAIL!. Listed at 489.99 USD. Name: Arthroacantha carpenteri Age: Devonian Formation: Silica Shale Formation Location: Sylvania, Ohio Size: Crinoid is over 3 inches long! We recently acquired some nice fossils from the late Joseph Butterfield Collection (NJ). We will be auctioning these fossils here over the next few weeks. This is a very fine specimen of the Devonian crinoid, Arthroacantha carpenteri, from the famous Silica Shale of Ohio. This classic specimen was found decades ago and was recently acquired from the Butterfield Collection. The distinct crinoid is very inflated and 3-D and is beautifully replaced by pyrite. The minute detail of the pinnules and arms is excellent, and the plate structure and stem are also very easily seen. The impressive crinoid is wonderfully centered on the natural-edged plate of shale. This is an excellent example of a pyritized Arthroacantha crinoid from this historic Devonian site. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this item. Insurance is included in the cost of shipping.
