This listing is for a lovely vintage English Sterling Silver cigarette case made by the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company in 1949. The case is decorated with an all-over engine turned design on both the top and bottom. The interior of the case has a gold wash and an elastic strap on one side to keep cigarettes in place. The interior is marked with English hallmarks for Birmingham, Sterling, date code for 1949 and "Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 12 Regent Street" on the top and with the Sterling hallmark and date code stamp on the bottom. The case has a hidden opening with the top of the case sliding upward to open the case. Measures 3/8" high, 4 3/4" long and 3 1/4" wide. Weighs 145 grams. This nice silver cigarette case is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear. The hinge is tight and the case opens and closes securely. PLEASE NOTE note that there is a slight gap at the front of the case when closed where someone unfamiliar to the unusual working of the case probably tried to open it incorrectly. Case does close tightly and this minor gap in no way affects the attractiveness or security of this case. Please also check our eBay Store for more of our great items.
