The obverse shows a young head of Victoria, facing left. Around the border is "VICTORIA D:G:BRITANNIAR: REGINA F:D;". The reverse shows a crown in the upper portion, with the denomination "HALF FARTHING", and the date, 1843, below it. At the bottom center is a rose, with a thistle to the left, and a shamrock to the right. The piece is nice medium to dark brown color. The portrait of Victoria still shows strong hair detail and rounded facial features. The reverse still retains crown details and the flower details. At about the 3:00 o'clock position on the obverse rim is a small edge nick. On the reverse, at the left side, is a single, fine line scratch, from about 10:00 o'clock to down behind the "F" in "FARTHING". Just to the left side of the bottom edge of the crown, is a single, fine line scratch, going to the left. Both of these are just visible when moved across the light at the right angle.
