You are bidding on a beautiful hand turned massive CROTCH FIGURED BLACK WALNUT PLATTER, that I have signed and dated on the foot. Platter is a massive 12" in diameter and is roughly 1 ½ " tall Large size platter with EXTREME crotch figure showing stunning flame pattern The item has been sanded to 600 grit, then coated with a Shellac and Carnauba Wax based water-resistant finish. Finally the item is the buffed using a 3 step process. The first buffing is done using Tripoli to remove any fine scratches or tool marks, then White Diamond to start to bring out the shine, and then buffed with pure Carnauba wax which not only protects the item but also provides a deep gloss finish. This platter was all hand turned from a solid block of BLACK WALNUT that was from the crotch of the tree. The colors and swirling grain in this piece are just beautiful to look at. This item was turned from a section of wood that came from the crotch of the tree which is why you see a split in the colors as well as a small checks (voids) in the wood itself. This is typical of any items that are made from the crotch of a tree and is not considered a defect. This bowl is suitable to be used as a serving platter or just as a decorative item. The entire platter has been hand turned by me with all of the small details that make it a beautiful piece and a truly unique item for yourself or a gift for someone special.
