St John NeumannSingle Decade Rosary One of our own American saints! This chaplet has a St John Neumann holy medal of nickel silver, about 7/8" tall and oval in shape. It bears a beautifully rendered & updated mage of St John Neumann, one of our favorite American bishops who was named a saint in 1977. The silver-toned St Benedict crucifix and the medal were made in Italy; the chaplet itself was handmade by me in our home in the USA. All eleven beads are 8mm. The single Our Father is a genuine Tiger Eye gemstone bead. The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech glass, faceted and fire-polished, in alternating amethyst purple and a dark aqua/crystal bicolor. About 10" long, it comes gift-boxed and with the following:carry pouchSt John Neumann prayer cardSt Benedict prayer cardHow to Pray the Rosary pamphletThe 15 Promises of Mary cardHow to Pray the Divine Mercy cardgift bag and tissue paper for gift giving St John Neumann was the child of a German father and Czech mother, born in 1811 into a large well-to-do family, was an excellent student, and drawn to the religious life. His ordination was delayed in part because his home country had an overabundance of priests, so he set off for America to request ordination there and to minister to the thousands of immigrant Catholics who lacked enough priests. Father John started in Buffalo and was soon sent to outlying districts in the wilderness where he lived in a log cabin and traveled from remote farm to remote farm. His parishioners were from many different countries, but he knew 12 languages so he was well-equipped. He joined the Redemptorists in Pittsburgh and eventually became the bishop of Philadelphia; built 50 churches, started a cathedral, opened over 100 schools, and wrote newspaper articles and catechisms.
