Heathkit LCD Display 411-850 for GC-1720 We finally found a source for the LCD displays that are used in the GC-1720 wall clock. These are brand new LCD displays they are not NOS parts. The GC-1720 will eventually suffer from degradation of both the LCD display as well as the clear vinyl overlay that creates a margin around the display. If your clock looks like the second picture, replacing the LCD and the vinyl overlay will make it look like the third picture. We had a couple of GC-1720's in our 'boneyard' just because the displays were so badly faint and damaged. We replaced the display with one of these new LCD's, created the vinyl overlay, and what you see in the third picture is our results. Be very careful handling the display and inserting it into the GC-1720 clock. It is best to follow the directions in the GC-1720 manual for both removing the LCD display and inserting the new LCD display. These displays DO have the colons for the clock. When we took the picture (several times) it was while the colons were blinking, and of course, we got the picture without the colon being displayed. So we just gave up... We were finally able to catch the elusive colons with our camera... After you install your new LCD display, don't forget to remove the protective clear vinyl cover that comes on these new displays.
