The drawers are walnut and solid oak is the secondary wood, and they are dovetailed on all four corners. Antiqued brass hardware. Inlay on the center drawer and on the upper portion of the front legs. In exceptional condition. Structurally perfect, with no loose joints or repairs. Please note that in the picture of the top, the flash of the camera makes the piece finish look uneven but it is not and it is even throughout the piece. Some very minor wear on the top, but less than expected for a piece seldom used - there is a small area of small marks on one end that looks as if someone moved an item around over time. The drawers are extremely clean and slide smoothly. The doors open and close smoothly and evenly. No nicks, dings, chips or repairs. The finish is excellent throughout. Retails in the $9500 range in today's market. Measurements: 70" wide, 21" deep at the center, and 18" deep at either end. It stands 38" tall. The space between the two center legs is appx. 33" wide, The space between the outside two legs is 14" wide. The area from the floor to the underside of the cabinet is 19" high. Davis made their reputation by crafting beautifully designed and executed pieces out of solid woods. While other manufacturers moved to veneered particle board, Davis continued their high-end approach to furniture making. While they are no longer in operation, their pieces are standing the test of time, and are sought after for their quality. This piece is the company's interpretation of a Federal era antique, with the case set on six tapered legs with spade-style feet. There is a slight projection at the center, that steps back slightly, and then curves even farther back to meet the outside legs. The wide center drawer is over four doors - a slightly eccentric arrangement of two doors that open from the center, flanked by two more, smaller, narrower doors. The outside sections are single drawers over single doors. There are a series of inlaid neoclassic urns and vases on the top of the legs and center of the middle drawer.
