The badge was established in 1931 by the Admiral Horthy regime to be awarded to those who suffered permanent disabilities during WW1 and conflicts during the establishment of the Kingdom. The badge was also awarded to disabled soldiers of WW2. There are 2 types of the badge - this is the larger one (28.5mm x 22mm) which is more difficult to find. It was worn on the left breast pocket. Letters HR are an acronym for the word: 'Hadirokkant' (meaning 'War Invalid'). Badge is in remarkable condition with lapel fastener intact.
