This India 50 Rupee banknote from 2016 is part of the 2011 - 2017 series with the rupee symbol added before the denomination. Its obverse side features the ancient Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar on the lower-right and a portrait of political ethicist Mahatma Gandhi on the left. The Indian lawyer led a successful movement for Indias independence from the British colony. The denomination as the registration device, flowers, and the RBI seal with tiger and palm tree are printed alongside Gandhis portrait. The reverse side features a language panel with Hindu text and the Parliament House in New Delhi. The security features of the note include a windowed security thread with demetalized RBI and Hindu text and a watermark image of Mahatma Gandhi with electrotype 50 and vertical RBI 50.
