Wonderful Stenciling on each side including the original pantent date of Jan 29, 1884. Last 2 photos are screen shots (online patent site) of a patent diagram and improvement letter filed in 1891. Patent Number 292,465 for the original or any other information could not be found making this toy quite rare indeed. The Roller is in working condition and creates a different chime when rolled. I've included photos of the inside, since a piece of wood is missing, to show the hanging clapper and several pieces of wire that the clapper hits when rotating. This roller had a child's theme paper wrap around the cylinder and several small pieces remain. 27"L x 5"W and side diameter is 6 1/4".
