So, if a dye did not come in a jar, I put it into a jar. This jar is all Tintex Beige and, probably, all distributed by Sara Lee, USA, 2000. I was also a fanatic about not using one spoon for all the jars, so each jar had its own spoon.So let’s say 6 boxes of dye are in the plastic jar. Here's the math part. Jar is approximately 3 ¾ inches tall and the bottom diameter is 3 ¼ inches and is approximately ¾ full. It has gaff tape and sharpie; 10b +/- is code for the jar holding about 10 boxes when full. Sealed with electrical tape. Weighs a total of 1 lb. 2 oz. (18 oz). Similar empty jar weighs in at less than 5 oz. Subtracting leaves approximately 13 oz of Beige dye. Divided by 2 oz per box (as per Tintex) that is 6 ½ boxes.The Beige dye box in the pictures in NOT included in this listing. It is representative of what is in the jar and is shown only for informational purposes.Just because dyes are older didn't mean I wasn't using them at my job. Older powder dyes are still workable. I usually shake them well a day before I use them and let them sit so the dye dust settles before I open the box.And Tintex are just as easy to use as the other popular dye brand. Many people prefer Tintex as their union dye. If you are new to dyeing, understand that the color on the package is not what your fabric will turn into. Dyeing is a combination of science and magic. It is affected by the fiber content of the material, the material's original color and how you handle the process. And, yes, it can be affected by your local water source.
