Check the listing for details. Ladybug Life Cycle Set W/ Hardcover, Insect Lore 4-Stage Manipulatives, & More!. Condition: Used. Listed at 16.99 USD. This ladybug life cycle set is awesome! I used it in my kindergarten classroom, during the Spring, when we were doing a unit on insects. The set is in very good condition! The book was given to me by a retired Title I teacher and does have an "I-READ 2" stamp on the title page. On the title page double-spread, there are also some black dots, where the stitches from the sewn binding are, that look like they were made with a marker. There are also a couple of small black dots on the page across from the title page, and a faded version of the "I-READ 2" stamp also shows up backwards on this page, as the ink must not have been dry when the book was closed after stamping. There is also a small .75" section, on the top of the front cover, that is a little scuffed. I have included a photo of the double-spread and a closeup picture of the top of the front cover. The book gives children insight as to what the life of a ladybug is like and has tons of interesting and little known facts. It describes the environment and characteristics of this beneficial insect. The book includes bright, colorful photos that capture the ladybug beetle in its natural habitat. This set consists of the following pieces: a nonfiction hardcover book, 4 plastic figures that show the stages of the ladybug life cycle, a laminated "Ladybug Life Cycle Stages" header, 4 laminated numbered cards with the stages of the ladybug life cycle, and 4 laminated, large, black, curved arrows. This set comes from a smoke free home. The nonfiction book is titled "Face-to-Face with The Ladybug". It measures 8.5" x 9.75" and is 26 pages. The author is Valerie Tracqui and the photos were taken by Patrick Lorne. The book was published by Charlesbridge Publishing and has a copyright date of 2002. This book is part of Valerie Tracqui's "Face-to-Face" series. This is a children's life science book that teaches and explains the life cycle of the ladybug as well as its variety of species in kid-friendly language. In this book, children will meet the ladybug through close-up photographs and detailed information. In the back of the book, there is a page titled "A Quick Quiz about Ladybugs". Here there is a list of 26 questions that are followed by page numbers in which the answers can be found. The book covers different facts about ladybugs and their variety of species, including where they live, what they eat, their predators, and much more. This is a great book to gain knowledge on ladybugs, and to see accurate pictures of what the different kinds of ladybugs look like. The photographs are up-close, brilliant, and amazing. Any young bug scientist will love this book! Children will learn about the evolution of the ladybug, how they change as they grow, and how to spot the stages of ladybug growth and development with Insect Lore's Ladybug Life Cycle Stages plastic figurines! These 4 oversized figures are great for little hands. They are for ages 4+ yrs. and grades preschool-7th. The manipulatives are accurately and realistically sculpted and painted to reflect the ladybug's true colors and show the 4 stages of development: eggs, larva, pupa, and adult. These solidly constructed and safety tested figurines are perfect for hands-on instruction and hours of educational play! The figures measure 2"-2.25" in length and 1.125"-1.875" in width. The header, word cards, and arrows I created myself. The header measures 17" x 2.75". The word cards measure 3.25" x 1.5". And, the arrows measure 8.5" x 1.75" at the widest part. This set would make a wonderful addition to a primary or intermediate classroom! It would also be great to have in a household with children who have an interest in insects! I am hoping to find it a good home.
