Light Cavalry Saber with Steel Sheath - Design 1796 Light Cavalry Saber with Steel Sheath - Design 1796 The 1796 blade-shaped light cavalry saber model was actually originally derived from the Indian talwar and was one of the most widespread weapons among the Prussians and the British (who in 1815 inflicted a crushing defeat on Napoleons army at Waterloo). The saber was so feared on the battlefield that German army units still used it because of its effectiveness until the 20th century. Our replica blade is made of unsharpened spring steel and comes with a matching steel sheath with a steel support ring. A fantastic piece of military history. Details: Overall length: approx. 95.5 cm. Blade length: approx. 83 cm. Material: spring steel EN45. The blade is not sharp. Steel sheath included. Weight (without sheath): approx. 1320 grams. Manufactured by BattleMerchant.
