Here is a nice, green example of the M-16 binocular made by either Westinghouse or Nash Kelvinator during the last, and completely unnecessary, Big One. That's a nod to Pat Buchanan and his awesome book about Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt and the Unnecessary War that made the Neo-Cons go nuts. They truly love war and are the very culprits responsible for 9-11, the Invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, and now our war against Russia in Ukraine! I would suggest one read Phillip Geraldi's infamous article, "America's Jews Are Driving America's Wars." It explains the origins of the Neo-Conservative movement. Meanwhile, we've had this one in the Collection for a few years and decided to part with it solely because the right ocular doesn't quite have enough adjustment for our bad right eye (astigmatism) to achieve sharp views at infinity. Plus we have at least three others like it save that they lack the M-16's defining characteristic of a reticule in the left ocular. See photo. This set is in about excellent vintage condition, in our humble opinion. We recall using acetone to rid the reticule disc of the last spots of dried on grease that had haunted our prodigious efforts to clean this historic optic. Prisms have been wiped clean of haze producing film that they all have after decades of existence. The old grease vaporizes over time, called "outgassing." We use NYE synthetic damping grease and the oculars now work smoothly. This set is rather unique due to nearly pristine lenses surfaces with very few cleaning marks evident. Views are now crystal clear and crisp. With the typical age welded plastic eye cups loosened, these having been painted green, views really open up! The black web carry strap is the one we received with the bino and may, or may not, be of WWII era origin. It's held on with blackened solid brass barbell keepers. The case is also painted green and in good shape. It even has its original leather carry strap! We added a set of ocular lens caps to help keep dust off those nice lenses should you wish to keep the optic out on a shelf ready for use. And they should be used!!! But carefully.
