Check the listing for details. Musser Century Vibraphone Model M75. Condition: Used. Listed at 6000.00 USD. FOR SALE!!!The instrument pictured above is the Rolls Royce of mallet instrruments. I bought mine in 1970 and made an active career on it for nearly a half century. It’s been all over the world with many major artists and can be heard on a large number of recordings as well. I’m selling it because over the last decade I’ve had neither the quality of work or income to justify hauling it around and I’ve downsized to an electronic mallet instrument for the back end of my career. The condition remains excellent. (The variable speed motor should probably be replaced.) However, the instrument has had the following additions: Mounted handles on both ends of the frame - for easier carrying - and… importantly,,, in the late 70’s, as music became more electronic, I had a lengthy correspondence with Clare Musser (the creator) to amplify the instrument. He settled on a magnetic bar pickup on the front and rear crossbars that plugs directly into an amplifier. This device still works perfectly and you can make these vibes louder than the loudest guitar while never losing that Musser quality.! I love this instrument and would keep it forever but I’m not playing it anymore and would rather it go to a deserving younger player who can keep it out there creating wonderful music! As to price: Musser is currently selling this same instrument new for just under $13,000. Most of the used ones I see are $8-10,000. This one has real history. I’m willing to accept best offer over $6,000. * *Please be aware that the instrument is heavy and if it has to be shipped will add an additional $200 or so shipping cost depending on distance. P.S. - If you want to talk about it, please call me. Don't call with lowball offers. I'm not interested...
