Native American Hopi Pueblo Hand Woven Sash/Belt Red/Green/Black 90" x 3":* - measures approximately 90" long including fringe x 3" wide - very good condition without damage - from pet free, smoke free home *Hopi Belt sashes are dated prior to the arrival of the Spaniards. They are worn in Hopi Pueblo ceremonies and given to young Hopi men from their godfathers when they are initiated. The fringe on the belt represents rain, an all-important necessity for the Hopi to grow food. This is one of three acquired from the same owner, all made by Thomas Banyacya Jr.
