The rectangular repousee silver hinged case is exceptionally designed with an elaborately decorated dimensional lid cover. The cover showcases a detailed oval panel depicting several putti children enjoying a dog & her litter of puppies. The children’s faces, as well as, the animals are beautifully rendered with a vermeil appearance. A decorative floral motif compliments the scenic panel. The interior features a divided burgundy velvet interior. The case has a secure locking mechanism. It is hallmarked with the profile of the winged god Mercury (figures 8 & 9) & has a diamond shape punch mark with the letters E & R separated by a torch or staff (figure 10).
