Its convenient, but isn't required. NOTE: The glue is NOT foam-safe. The Heptane-based Foam-Safe accelerator works with ALL kinds of CA and is safe for painted and finished surfaces. The accelerator is a mild type and will help CA glue to set up quickly, but not instantly. Only a thin spray is needed. You can use the spray to harden the surface of a thick glue fillet and then the full cure will follow. You may also spray one surface first, then apply glue to the other part and put the pieces together - and your repair will set up almost instantly. (CA can take up to 24hrs to cure completely) NOTE! The FLEX CA glue is NOT "Foam-Safe". Do NOT use it on regular foam (Styrofoam) but it will work really well on many kinds of other materials. (It works fine on EPP and EPO). This is a new formulation which offers a few interesting features: Medium FLEX CA is a little thicker than "Thin" Flexible CA, but not as thick as regular "medium" CA. FLEX CA doesn't dry as fast as regular CA, which provides extra working time. FLEX CA cures crystal-clear and slightly flexible. Flexible means, it resists cracking and isn't as rock hard or brittle, so it's easy to sand and doesn't tend to "chip out" - this is excellent for woodturning and the slight flexibility means it's really good for bonding applications that experience high-stress or vibration. FLEX CA forms a stronger bond (it has higher shear strength) than regular CA. FLEX CA has a significantly longer shelf life than regular CA. FLEX CA can be used as a wood finish (most common use is with a woodturning lathe, such as making a clear finish on pen blanks - build up several thin layers and then it can be polished!). FLEX CA works on a wide variety of surfaces! "Thin" is best for tight-fitting joints. "Medium" is the better choice for slightly rough surfaces.
