The DC Comics Series (1966 - Now) Choose a Character from the Pull Down Menu The Super Hero/Villain Set includes both Marvel and DC comics figures. The character Batman has been a favorite for years and many versions have come out. Batman first appeared with a cape in 1966. The cape was removed the next year. Batman, Bat Girl, Joker, and Penguin were issued with a soft head in 1979 but that experiment quickly ended. Wonder Woman and Batman were replaced with a regular plastic heads on Austria 3.9 stems in 1981. In 1987, feet were added. With the coming of the 4.9 patent, Batman was issued in Hungary in 1991 with a slightly different hue of blue. In 1992, production began in Yugoslavia with an even different shade of blue. Yugoslavia changed to Slovenia in 1993 with the stems showing the name change in 1994. With the name change came the conversion to all black, yet keeping the same design. In 1996 the head was completely re-designed to be larger with pointy ears. It was determined that the ears were too sharp and they were rounded more in 1998. There are five varieties of the 4.9 stem. In 2000, the character returned to Hungary to their plant, initially with 4,9 stems, but quickly changing to the 5.9 stems. In 2008, a new Batman series came out featuring a new Batman as well as his foes, Two face, The Joker, and the Riddler. Wonder Woman also first appeared in 1979 as a softheaded variety on a 3.9 stem. This quickly replaced with a regular plastic head in 1981 and featured a raised star on her forehead on a no feet Austria Stem. In 1987, thin feet were added. In 1990, Wonder Woman was on a Yugoslavia stem. With the issuance of the new 4.9 patent in late 1990, Wonder Woman was slightly modified as it came out in 1991. In 1993 Yugoslavia changed it's name to Slovenia and so the stem changed as well. In 2011, Superman finally arrived as an entire Justice League series was issued. Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern, all with sculpted busts rather than just the heads, comprise the series. In 2014, The Flash was added to the group. In 2016, a new movie came out Batman vs Superman featuring Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. PEZ obliged by issuing a new series of 4 super heroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Hulk.
