Disney Series Through the Years Choose a Character and condition (Loose, on Card, or Mint in Bag) from the Pull Down MenuThe Disney Cartoon Series is a timeless classic with many changes over the years. Many collectors try putting the variations side by side to watch the evolution of design. There are the six main characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto and Goofy. Mickey saw a re-design in 1987 when thin feet were added to the Austria Stems. In 1988, production shifted to China. In 1989, Czechoslovakia was added to the production mix, still with the use of a 3.9 stem. China stopped the Mickey production in 1990. The new 4.9 patent was issued in late 1990 and the stems began to change in 1991. Hungary began production in 1991 but first used 3.9 stems. Czechoslovakia changed names in 1993 to the Czech Republic and their stems again changed in 1994. In 1997 Mickey's face was redesigned again to the current style "New Face" as production shifted to Hungary and China. From the story lines of these main characters come many others. Donald's three nephews, Huey, Dewey, & Louie; Gyro Gearloose; millionaire Scrooge McDuck; Webbigail Vanderquack (Webby) and Bouncer Beagle (IDed by his number) from the Duck Tales Movies. While there have been many different issues of Micky, Pluto, Goofy, and many other Disney characters, Minnie was not introduced until 1997 paired with a re-issue of Mickey. Initially on a light blue stem, the stem color changed to pink in 1999.An 80th anniversary Mickey edition was issued in 2008 and A European Disney Cuties series cam out in 2012. In 2011,2012,2013,2015 special sets of Disney Characters are issued.Daisy Duck, although a part of the whole Disney genre, has not had many PEZ editions like Mickey or Goofy. When the characters were re-designed in 1997, Daisy was added to the mix. She originally came out on a light lavender stem but the following year, the stem was a darker purple.DONALD and SCROOGE Scrooge McDuck came out in 1977 using the same mold as Donald Duck's head. The hinge holes on the side of the head were used to place sideburn feathers. A hole in the beak was used to attach a pair of glasses. Version "B" of Donald modified the feathers at the top of the head. In 1987 the hole was taken away from the beak to make Donald "C". Thin feet were added later in the year. The beak hole and sideburn holes were back for Donald "D" when thin feet were added to Scrooge. Donald Version "E" came out in 1989 and Scrooge Version "B" with the sideburn feathers molded in came out in 1991, initially on 3.9 Austria stems but quickly switched to 4.9 stems. Donald "A" - only No Feet with sharp head feathers. Donald "B" - only No Feet with less defined head feathers. Donald "C" - Thin Feet and No Feet - Hinge holes, with and without extra head holes but NO beak hole Donald "D" - Thin Feet and No Feet - Hinge holes, extra Head Holes, plus hole in beak. Donald "E" - Thick feet, Blue Eyes, closed beak.Donald "F" - Larger head, open beak, no moving parts or holes. Some beaks are tipped in yellow, others have the full beak painted. The tipped variety is somewhat more rare. GOOFYGoofy "A" has removable ears, teeth, and nose and No Feet. Goofy "B" has removable ears and teeth, a fixed nose and No Feet. Goofy "C" has removable ears only...both No Feet and Thin Feet. Goofy "D" has a multiple part face, with and without fixed teeth.Goofy "E" has no removable parts. There are many facial expression and face color variations. In 1991, thick feet were added to Goofy "D" with Hungary stems. Still a multiple part face with removable teeth. PLUTOPluto saw a re-design in 1987 when thin feet were added to the Austria and Hong Kong Stems. In 1988, production shifted to China from Hong Kong along with another modification. In 1989, both China and Austria changed the design yet again - to a fixed ear. The new 4.9 patent was issued in late 1990 and the stems changed in 1991 as production began in Yugoslavia. In 1992-93, stems were from Hungary. A new design came in 1994. In 1997 production shifted from Hungary to China & Slovenia with both stems in existence. In 1999, the design remained the same as stems changed to 5.9 version. __________________________________________________________________ This listing is for one of the many Disney characters from a variety of themes, either loose, on card, or mint in bag.
