The detector is a solid-state (scintillation) detector (Norelco 85010100), interfaced to a PC. Monochromatization is achieved by pulse-height analysis at the detector and by a focussing monochromator (curved pyrolitic graphite crystal, Advanced Metals Research) installed between the receiving slit and the detector. When thin specimens are used, peak width can provide meaningful information on crystallite size."
