Two things we can be certain of when dating this piece, due to the absence of the German National silver mark of the 'Crown & Crescent', introduced in 1888, would date this to pre 1888, and the presence of the good old British import hallmarks of the "F" within an oval, denoting that it is of 'Foreign' manufacture, together with the London assay office Leopard's head, Lion passant, and year date letter of importation of an uppercase "P" for 1890.
