When loosening the arms side screw, a single spring inside the arm opens the sockets allowing you to pivot the ball and socket connection or completely disconnect the ball from the socket. Connecting the two arms is the RAM-B-230 double ball connector. </p><p>The each double socket arm is 1.75" long, when measured from socket center to socket center.
