Check the listing for details. Red Ear Turtle Shell Block Pattern 7" to 8" (227GS-0708B)10UBS. Listed at 48.35 USD. This listing is for one red ear turtle shell with a block pattern that is approximately 7-8" in length. Please note: You will not receive the exact item as shown in the photos but something similar. As these are natural products, there can be a bit of variation. Please look at the group photo for reference. The can in the photos for size reference is a standard North American pop can. These red ear turtle shells are often used to make medicine bags, talking sticks, and other craft projects. These turtles are not endangered. We are frequently asked where the turtle shells come from and how they are obtained. The smaller shells (everything from hatchlings to turtles that are 6” to 7” long) generally come from turtle farms. They are typically ones that died at the farm from natural causes. The farm saves them for the woman who cleans them for us and then we sell them. The larger red ear turtle shells and snapping turtle shells come from turtles that are typically trapped in the wild and the meat is sold as a delicacy. The turtles are not killed just for their shells. Genus and species: Trachemys s. elegans. Ranch or Wild. USA.
