Comprised men 16 - 60 who were not already serving in the armed forces. They were poorly equipped and had a very basic uniform. The uniform of the Volkssturm consisted of an armband and collar tabs. The number of pips on the collar tabs denoted the rank of the wearer. The 3 pips of these collar tabs represent the rank of Kompanieführer, the Company Leader.
