The long pins are necessary, otherwise the connector Roland used will not stay in place on the OLED. NO soldering or modifications are required to install. This OLED is a direct Plug N Play replacement for the old LCD. The pins i use with this display are custom made 'coupling' pins, i use to buiid various custom displays. They are also useful for this particular upgrade. Due to the extra length, display connector will stay securely in place. Guaranteed. Finally, you can now remove the old noisy voltage inverter (i will provide illustrated instructions) Once the old display is gone, the inverter is surplus to requirements.
