It internally includes a glass scale rigidly attached to a sleeve which is a guided shaft ball bearing so that the probe can count the number of glass scale ticks until the probe tip is flush with the surface to measure. It is a high quality, brand new surplus stock component that comes with original packaging and factory calibration results.
