Russian Commemorative Twist Handle Spoon 84 Standard Silver CC 1878 Russian 84 standard (.875) silver commemorative spoon with a thick round twisted handle, a pointed finial, and a large bowl. The back of the bowl features ornate floral, foliate, and scroll decorations. Monogrammed "SWS" in ornate period block script. The spoon is inscribed "Without salt, without bread, only half the meal" in ornate period Russian Cyrillic block script. Makers mark is "CC". Features an assay mark dating the spoon to 1878. This attractive spoon measures 7 3/8" long and weighs 2.7 ozt. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering. Monogrammed and inscribed as described above.
