Traditionally one would use the larger opening during the summer and the smaller 3/8" opening during the winter. Personally, we prefer to use only the 3/8" opening as we find it provides a large enough opening for the bees and reduces robbing. Overall dimensions are 9" x 1-7/8" x 21-3/4" Made in the USA
