Saddle Fitting Template Kit A saddle is to a horse as a shoe is to a person. If your saddle doesn't fit properly, your horse or pony will experience discomfort and pain. This irritation and pain will make him uncomfortable and often cause bad behaviour. Also, the saddle may restrict your horse's movement and make him unable to work properly or to his potential. When you’re looking to purchase a saddle, especially online it can be difficult getting the right fit. Ideally, you’d be able to take your horse to get it fitted, where you could hand-pick saddles for you and your horse. But what if you live 3 hours away, or even on the other side of the country? How can you possibly find a saddle that works without trying every saddle we have in the shop? The answer is a tracing of your horse’s back. And the good news is that it is quick and easy! All it takes are a few easy steps and about 10 minutes of your time. While it’s not a substitute for actually trying a saddle and having it fitted by a professional saddle fitter, it can give us a very good idea of which saddles will be worth trying, and which are not as well as checking your horse on a regular basis for shape changes or problems. WHAT THE TRACING TELLS US The first tracing corresponds to where the front of the tree should be on your horse’s back, and tells us what tree width your horse needs. The second tracing shows us the shape of your horse’s back where the panels (the weight-bearing surface of the saddle) will rest. This tells us what panel configuration will work best for your horse. And the third tracing shows us your horse’s back-to-wither relation, and tells us how deep the panel needs to be. Tracings are also invaluable if you’re sending your saddle for fitting adjustments or re-flocking. In the case of fitting adjustments, it lets you know exactly where and how much adjustment is necessary. WHATS IN THE KIT... * A Flexible Curve to mold to your horses back. * A Laminated Instruction Step by Step Photo Sheet * A Marker Pen * 3 Large Card Templates * A Pair of Craft Scissors * A Chalk to Mark the Horse We hope this kit is an affordable tool that you can use over and over again!Discaimer:This kit is offered as a guide tool it can give us a very good idea of which saddles will be worth trying, and which are not, as well as checking your horse on a regular basis for shape changes or problems and not a substitute for actually trying a saddle and having it fitted by a professional saddle fitter.
