Check the listing for details. Two Antique Papier Mache Snuff Boxes. Condition: Used. Listed at 55.00 USD. Snuff boxes were popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. In fact, England’s Queen Charlotte (1744-1818), had an entire room devoted to her collection of different types of snuff.The larger snuff box here is Russian. On the top is a depiction of a folk-dancing couple in period costumes. There are flowers strewn on the ground in front of them.It is in good condition for its age and type. There is some wear to the artwork. The long hinge still operates well, and the lid closes tightly. It has developed a soft patina.It measures 3-7/68 inches long and 2-3/8 wide, and 1-½ inches high.The smaller, Victorian, snuff box dates to around 1860. It has a hand-painted figure of a child on the lid resting in a landscape. There is a hand-etched border comprised of curlicues, flowers and a ribbon-like design. Inside it sports some of its original silver foil lining, especially on the top.Its condition is very good for its age and type. There is some scuffing on the bottom and a small amount of wear to the painting on the lid. There is a small chip of papier mache on the edge of the lid. The hinge still operates well, and the lid closes tightly. It has acquired a soft patina.It measures 2-½ inches long, 1-¼ inches deep and 7/8 of an inch high.
