Van Cort Instruments The Dragonfly dioptric scope, a curious optical device first experimented with in the 18th century. This miniature instrument features a bell-shaped casing crafted from layers of dyed birch laminated together in a striking striped pattern. A multi-prism lens provides the observer with 24 simultaneous upright images, mimicking the compound vision of a dragonfly. The lens is secured by a signed and dated brass retainer ring.
