A VDO 805/1/5 is a water temperature sender (120 °C / 250 °F, 3/8‑18 NPTF thread, earth‑return) used across many marine and industrial engines including Yanmar marine diesels (older QM, GM, and some J‑series engines), Volvo Penta engines, Westerbeke and Universal marine engines, Cummins‑Onan marine/industrial engines, and Perkins marine engines retrofitted with VDO panels. Basically, any engine whose cooling system has a 3/8‑18 NPTF port and uses a VDO 120 °C gauge. This sending unit will not support a buzzer or alarm light. Each terminal feeds a primary and secondary gauge.
