The coin was minted during the reign of Sihtric Caoch the Conqueror, who sat on the throne over Dublin and Northumberlan for six years between 921-927AD. It is speculated that because there was no lack of common currency at the time, Sihtric minted his own coins, this one included, solely to reinforce his own authority. It was initially found with the discovery of the Eboracum hoard of Anglo-Saxon and Viking silver pennies. It gives a fascinating insight into the fusing of cultures between the Vikings and Northumbrians in 927 A.D., which is illustrated clearly by the Viking sword bearing the Christian cross on the handle.------This high-density graphite mold is made of 99.9% pure graphite and produces coins that are approximately 40mm in diameter with a thickness 3mm. ***METAL COINS IN IMAGES ARE FOR DEPICTION ONLY AND ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE***
