Vintage Curtlo Cycles 57cm Road Frame Lugged True Temper RC2 Pro Here is a vintage Curtlo road racing frame featuring True Temper RC2 Pro tubing, which dates it approximately to the late 80s/early 90s. Curtlo Cycles was founded in 1989 by legendary framebuilder Doug Curtiss—the lugged tubeset, 128mm dropout spacing and unserialized frame point to this being an early example of his masterfully crafted frames. Frame size measures 57cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of seat tube. Top tube measures 57cm center to center. 1-inch diameter head tube measures 147mm long. I purchased the frame from a collector and it came without the fork or any components, so I do not know the details of the original build. The paint is faded and has chips/scratches, but no dents or frame damage. The main color is a very dark metallic blue that looks nearly black; the rear triangle is an orange/yellow fade that has lightened over the years due to sun exposure. On the right seatstray there is a small illustration of a face with glasses and a mustache—it is under the clear coat and likely original to the paint job. The left chainstay has the outline of a peeled decal that reads ‘Outdoors Inc. Mountain Bike Specialists;’ suggesting the bike was first sold by the famous bike shop of that name in Tennessee.
